Tiana's Behaviour Change Goal

Page history last edited by 8mtd@queensu.ca 13 years, 7 months ago

The behaviour I am going to try to change is to increase my physical activity. Currently, I engage in this behaviour about one time a week. Specific objectives of my program will be to go to the gym at least three times a week and run on the elliptical for thirty minutes.

A major factor that has contributed to my lack of physical activity is the onset of my patellar-femoral syndrome, which causes a large amount of pain in my knee. Prior to this injury, I was frequently engaging in physical activity such as long distance running and biking.  Since I have eliminated physical activity from my daily activities for a period of about four months, I have become lazy and have not exercised although I feel as though I should. Another factor that has contributed to me engaging in this behaviour is my lack of free time. With school beginning, I feel that if I begin to incorporate physical activity into my school schedule right from the beginning, it will be easier for me to plan a specific time allotted for exercise.

I am quite motivated to follow through with this, as I do not feel like I have the energy I used to when I was exercising frequently and I feel as though I have gained some weight. I expect that if I follow through with my goal of increasing my physical activity, I will have more energy to carry out daily activities, I will feel less lazy, have an easier time falling asleep and have a better overall feeling about myself.
